Future Ruins
Future Ruins stages the present as an archaeological site. Three large frescos, built from foam, concrete, plaster and pigment, show contemporary protest scenes set against the Capitol, the Supreme Court and figures of Liberty and Justice. The frescos are cracked, broken and missing pieces. In front of them, stoneware columns modeled on classical architecture lean, slump and drip with glaze, each one topped with a vessel. Together they read like a museum gallery of a civilization that hasn’t finished falling apart.
